- Putrajaya declares a lockdown from 27th March – 9th April in two-areas in Kluang.
- The affected areas are Kampung Dato’ Ibrahim Majid and Bandar Baharu Dato’ Ibrahim Majid.
- All residents will not be allowed to leave home and tourists are banned from entering the area during this period.
Due to the increasing cases of Covid-19, the government had to take further action. Putrajaya announced that it would enact an Enhanced Movement Control Order (MCO) in two areas within Simpang Renggam after 61 positive cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in the locations, a huge portion out of the existing 83 cases in the Kluang region.
Two-Week Lockdown In Two Areas In Kluang, Johor
The affected areas are Kampung Dato’ Ibrahim Majid and Bandar Baharu Dato’ Ibrahim Majid, involving a total of 3,570 residents from 650 families.
“This is to prevent Covid-19 infection from spreading out from the areas. This move will allow house-to-house case monitoring activities to be implemented in the period of 14 days,” Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a statement.
A Medical Base And Essential Food Will Be Provided
Moreover, residents are required to provide cooperation to MOH staff who will come to each resident’s house for swab screening and sampling purposes.
During the order, all locals and visitors in the areas are not allowed to leave the house, while non-locals are not allowed in with all entry points blocked. In addition, all business activities must halt during the period. A medical base will be set up there and any essential food item will be distributed by the Social Welfare Department.
