Laksa Johor: Treat Yourself To This Authentic And Tasty Laksa Dish

Hello Foodies! The second week of Hari Raya is here! As we know Hari Raya celebrations in 2020 are marked by some unique circumstances, but that shouldn’t stop us from gearing up for this festive occasion, including cooking your own Hari Raya food to enjoy at home. This time we’re sharing with you how to make Laksa Johor at home!

Delicious Laksa Johor From Scratch To Make At Home!

Laksa Johor is spaghetti served with a thick spicy fish gravy, topped with fresh vegetables. The gravy is a combination of Laksam and Curry. The condiments are almost Laksam-like, except for the preserved radish. Here’s what you need:

Ingredients:
Ikan Parang
Shrimp – boiled
Coconut Milk
Holland Onion and Onion – blended finely
Garlic (6 cloves) – blended finely
Turmeric and Galangal – blended finely
Lemongrass (6 sticks) – blended finely
Asam Keping (2 pieces)
Dried Shrimp
Kerisik
Syarifah Laksa Spices and Spaghetti

Step 1: Boil spaghetti and drain well. Set aside. Boil fish with enough water to cover it. Set aside the fish stock. Drain, debone, and blend the fish.

Step 2: Heat up some oil and fry blended ingredients, laksa spices, and a bit of water. Boil until the mixture is cooked.

Step 3: Blend together shrimp, fish, and dried shrimp with fish stock. After that, pour into the mixture, add asam keping, kerisik, coconut milk, salt, and sugar. Boil until the mixture is a little thick.

Condiments: 

Lime
Bean Sprouts – ends trimmed
Long Beans – finely sliced
Radish – chopped
Basil (daun selasih) or Laksa leaves (daun kesum)
Cucumber – finely julienned without the seeds

Step 4: Finally, serve with spaghetti, sambal belacan, and condiments.
