Here’s How To Make Korea’s Popular Omelette Cake With Mango and Oreo

Hello, our dearest foodies! Staying at home has been great for many of us to showcase our talents in the kitchen. With so many creative recipes floating online such as the viral Dalgona Coffee to the No-Bake Oreo Cake, here’s something simple for all sweet tooth. This time around, we will be sharing a fun recipe to make Korea’s popular Omelette Cake using mango and Oreos!

Make This Soft And Fluffy Omelette Cake At Home

South Korea has always been in the spotlight when it comes to making things viral. From the much raved Dalgona Coffee to the jiggly Soufflé Omelette, it’s hard to resist these delicious yet Instagrammable desserts. This time around, it’s nothing less. Today, we will be sharing a simple recipe to make another viral Korean dessert – Omelette Cakes! Without further ado, shall we get started?

Ingredients (A) – Batter

  • 2 eggs
  • 30g of sugar
  • 20g of corn oil
  • 30g of milk
  • 8g of corn starch
  • 32g of cake flour
  • 3 drops of lemon juice

Ingredients (B) – Fillings

  • 150g of whipping cream
  • 10g of sugar
  • Mangoes, mini Oreos or your favourite fruit

Step 1: Begin by preheating the oven to 170°C.

Step 2: In 2 bowls, separate egg whites and egg yolks. In the bowl with egg yolk, add in milk and corn oil. Mix well and add in the cake flour. Continue to stir until it is fully incorporated.

Step 3: In the bowl with egg whites, whisk together with lemon juice and half of the sugar. Then, add the rest of the sugar and corn starch. Whisk until it forms soft peaks.

Step 4: Add the egg white mixture into the egg yolk mixture in 3 batches. Gently fold them together to mix.

Step 5: Line a baking sheet with baking paper and pour a ladle of batter onto it. Bake at 170°C for 10 minutes and let it cool for 5 minutes.

Step 6: While waiting, prepare for the fillings. Whisk together whipping cream and sugar until it forms stiff peaks and pour it into a piping bag.

Step 7: To assemble, place the cake onto a cupcake wrapper or a small baking paper. Slightly squeeze the sides and pipe the cream. Top with mangoes or Oreo cookies and your Omelette Cake is done!

A simple and light dessert, you’ll be surprised that this takes less than 30 minutes to complete! Moreover, it’s up to you to make this a mango, Oreos or strawberry flavoured one! If you’re up for more fun, make them all! With the same basic ingredient, it’s up to your creativity to make this a fancy or a simple one. Additionally, don’t forget to sprinkle some powdered sugar before you snap the photo!
