Did you guys know that the queue at Kam Long Curry Fish Head starts as early as 11 AM? Yes, some locals have it for their hearty breakfast. So, if you’d like a taste of the curry fish head that’s the talk of town, you gotta be there early. Since they sold out as early as 2.30 PM, queuing for a taste of the signature dish here is totally worth it.

But, good news guys. Although the line is insane, you’ll be served only after a short waiting period. The friendly employee will take your order upon your turn and then hand you a waiting number. What’s more is the spacious interior here as they have double storey space seats. They definitely need the space since they cater to huge crowds who can’t get enough of their curry fish head.

30 Years of Passed Down Generational Recipe

Also, Kam Long Curry Fish Head has more than 30 years of establishment history. This simply means that what you’re getting here is a passed down generational recipe that has probably satisfied countless of tastebuds.

It certainly is a joy watching the preparation of the delicious signature Curry Fish Head. The owner handles the cooking himself and first, he will include all the ingredients into the claypot. After that, the rich, milky curry broth is poured over the ingredients and is cooked till ready to serve.

Fresh-Off-The-Bone Fish Meat Complements Aromatic Curry Broth

The Curry Fish Head here is served in a claypot so when our order was served, it’s a pot of piping hot curry fish head that’s irresistible. The fish used here is the Red Snapper and freshness remains one of the priority at Kam Long. Certainly, you’ll see that the fish meat here comes off the bone pretty easily which is a sign of freshness.

Also, a sip of their curry will leave you wanting more. However, it isn’t the kind of curry that has a spicy kick to it but it leans towards the kind of curry that’s milkier and richer. Aside from the main star of the dish, Curry Fish Head, you can also find cabbage, ladyfingers and long beans as the greens of the dish.

In addition, if you look around the tables around you, you’ll notice that a majority of the patrons will order additional beancurd skin (Tau Kee). Of course, we’d highly recommend you guys to do that as well since it’s a real good combo.

There are 3 servings of the curry fish head here, Small (RM26) , Medium (RM 38) and Large (RM 53). Pair it with white rice for the ultimate perfect Curry Fish Head experience.

In brief, our verdict of this stall is that it’s a definite must-try in JB. Besides, if both locals and tourists are queueing for this, you know you definitely can’t afford to miss it.
