Here’s How To Make 3-Ingredient Tornado Potato At Home Without Machine

Hello Foodies! Anyone who has explored the night market food scene will instantly recognize tornado potatoes. Also known as twist potatoes or spiral potatoes, this yummy treat is great to snack on while you continue to soak in the sights and smells of other delicious eats like apam balik, keropok lekor, and murtabak. While tornado potatoes are typically made with a machine, the great news is that you can actually make this on your own at home! Read ahead to see how you can do so with this easy tornado potatoes recipe!

Make This Easy Tornado Potato Recipe For A Yummy Snack!

Quick info on how to get a lot of potato strips, the knife should be tilted slightly while cutting the potatoes, and make sure the knife is sharp. You can always get creative by adding your desired spices! Things that can be used include:

Ingredients:

Potatoes (4)
Fried chicken mix flour (3 tbsp)
Bread crumbs (2 tbsp)
Oil for deep frying

Equipment:

Wooden skewers

Step 1: Wash and dry potatoes well. Then insert a wooden skewer into the middle of the potato, from the bottom end all the way through the top. Using a knife, cut it at an angle while rotating the potato in the opposite direction so that you get a swirl-like pattern.

Step 2: In a mixing bowl, combine fried chicken mix flour, and water (the mixture should be slightly liquid)
Set aside for further use.

Step 3: Pour oil into a deep frying pan over high heat.

Step 4: Dip the sliced potato into the batter, then, coat with bread crumbs. Make sure it’s fully coated.

Step 5: Place the potato into the pan and deep fry for about 5 minutes or until golden brown. Serve and enjoy!
