Johor Baru District Declared A Red Zone (Here’s What You Should Know)

On 29th October 2020, Johor Baru district was officially declared a red zone. This official declaration took place after a surge of COVID-19 cases in the district. For a district to be declared a red zone, it means the number of positive cases surpassed 40 in a span of 14 days. As Johor Baru is now a red zone, here are the things you should know.

Things To Know About Johor Baru District, Now A Red Zone

  1. First of all, the JB district that is now a red zone includes the JB City Centre as well as the Iskandar Puteri township.
  2. The declaration of JB district being a red zone took place after 10 new cases were reported on 29th October 2020
  3. Transmission of the Covid-19 disease is mostly among family members and from workplaces
  4. Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said monitoring and surveillance efforts would be actively increased to contain the spread of the virus
  5. 3 clusters have been identified in the state; Kempas Cluster, Rinting Cluster, and Bayu Cluster
  6. Kempas Cluster involved cases in the districts of Johor Bahru and Kulai and has seen a spike from 8 to 22 cases in just (1) day on 24th October 2020
  7. The cumulative cases for the Rinting Cluster was at 10 cases involving two employees, six family members, and two friends to children
  8. Bayu Cluster recorded a cumulative of 8 cases involving three colleagues and five members of their family,” said Vidyananthan, who is also the Kahang assemblyman
  9. The declaration of the red zone is likely a precautionary measure because unlike other red zones in the country, the authorities have not imposed any restrictions on movements.

Currently, there are 3 green zone districts, 6 yellow zone districts, and 1 red zone district in Johor.
