Good day foodies. How are you guys holding up during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO)? With yet another extension on the Order until 9th June, if we step back, we’ll see how it has left a great impact on our economy. But on a smaller scale, let’s focus on something that’s happening in the food scene right here in Johor. Brace yourselves, People and Places Cafe will be ceasing its operations, with an official closing statement on Instagram.
One Of The Best Cafes In Johor; People And Places Cafe Is Officially Closing
Before we get right into the details of the closure, allow us to take a sweet trip down the memory lane of People and Places Cafe. A quick search on Google would reveal that People and Places Cafe is one of the top cafes in Johor ever since it was established back in 2017. If you’re a Johorean, you’ll most definitely have dropped by this cafe, or the very least, hear about its snaking 1-2 hours waiting queue.
Additionally, this cafe is so well-known that even Taiwanese and local celebrities like Jay Chou and Jojo 吴俐璇 have paid them a visit! Helming the title as one of the best cafes in JB, People and Places is famously known for their brunch menu, alongside a garden-inspired interior and greenery that makes you think you’re on a camping retreat.

On their menu, the Quesadilla Breakkie often receives praises. Sandwiched within the thin tortilla sheets lies an interior of fluffy tom yum scrambled eggs, chicken ham, sliced tomatoes, Belgian cheddar cheese, sriracha aioli, topped with coriander, pomegranate and grated parmesan. It’s a brunch fare like no other.
According to the official Instagram announcement on both the cafe and the founder’s page, it seems like this is yet to be the end of this cafe.
Head Over To Routine by Soon, R&F Mall For An Asian Twist Brunch
Routine by Soon located in R&F Mall is still operating and catering to our cravings for Asian fusion brunch fares starting from today (15th of May).
Our team has managed to get in touch with the founder of People and Places Cafe, @soonporter. Soon revealed that the decision to cease the operations of the cafe is under a managerial consensus, instead of a cash flow issue.
This Isn’t Goodbye, Stay Tuned
With the closing of this cafe, we gotta admit that there will now be one less aesthetic cafe to visit over the weekend. However, Soon has stressed that good things are worth the wait, and we might just see them gloriously expanding their wings over to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. So, stay tuned for their grand arrival as this isn’t the end of the journey just yet.
