A Hidden Spot In Pontian For An Escape Into The Kampung

Kampung Life is still a hidden spot because it takes a good 25 minutes to drive from the nearest city, Bukit Indah. The grounds at Kampung Life remain mostly untouched with an attap roof that shelters the canteen that sells traditional claypot dishes and roasted chicken. But before we dig into the enticing food that they offer, shall we talk about how this place brings back memories of nostalgia?

With a blue windmill that stands in front of the restaurant, it’s easy to spot Kampung Life from afar. But what’s drawing the customers here is not just this photo-worthy landmark, it’s the exciting activities they offer. Situated in a quiet neighbourhood of Pekan Nanas, Kampung Life has a prawning pool, a playground for children and old fashioned underground kilns and large wood ovens!

Crispy on the outside and juicy tender on the inside, there’s no way to overlook this. Marinated for 4 hours with flavourful spices and herbs, the chicken is roasted with lychee wood upon order. Here’s a little guide, order their claypot chicken rice or seafood dishes first. That’s because you’ve got to wait for 30 minutes for the chicken to be roasted in the kiln! Otherwise, if you’re too hungry to wait, just give them a call and place an order.
